New York – More than 50 acclaimed artists will exhibit art works together in support of the Tibetan freedom struggle on October 14th at the Joshua Liner Gallery in Chelsea, New York City. The third-annual Art for Tibet show will feature top contemporary Tibetan and international artists, including Shepard Fairey, Pema Rinzin, Richard Gere, Ryan McGinness, Tenzing Rigdol, Swoon, Gonkar Gyatso, The Sucklord (star of Bravo Network’s “Work of Art” Season 2) and many more.

All artwork in the show will be sold via a silent auction on the evening of October 14th.  The evening event will feature a live-painting demonstration, DJ sets by Spirit Bear, and a silent auction that will offer excellent works with low opening bids. Drinks will be generously provided by Beerlao.  Pre-bidding will be available online at www.artfortibet.com beginning October 7th.

Beerlao compeletes the nutrition chain!

So there's an article headline from Asia today, Insects: the answer to global malnutrition, basically pointing out crickets are high in protein and can help feed the growing popultaion not only in poorer countries, but in heavily poputlated urban areas as well. We just gotta edcuate, right?

The kicker is in farming these high protien crickets, it's said that spent grain from beer can help feed these little critters, so they can in turn feed us! Quote from the article:

Up to now, the roughly 20 cricket farms operating in Laos have used chicken feed, like thousands of Thai farms, but it is expensive and must be imported. Vegetables or waste left over from the production of the national beer, BeerLao, could be one solution.

It's all coming together as the monks in Belgium have known all this time, beer is food! As Charlie Papazian points out in his book the Complete Joy of Homebrewing,

Yeast produces alcohol. When we consume alcohol it destroys our body's store of the vitamin B complex. The yeast that have made the alcohol that depletes the vitamin B complex replenishes the vitiamin B complex. Think about that. Isn't this part of the magic we're all involved in?

Yes it is Charlie! And now not only can we drink beer yeasts, but we can use spent grain to feed crickets that we can suck down and gain a healthy dose of protien for the day as well. Cheers to that.

Dressed the movie debuts in NYC

Okay everyone, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee (beer). Get dressed and run out to Chelsea Cinemas this weeked to catch this indie documentary about Nary Manivong, a Laos brother who beat the odds with a baseball bat.

Dumped and homeless at 14, he's rocking Fashion Week with a new line, and later a new brand called NAHM in collaboration with Ally Hilfiger (yes, Tommy's daughter) to be released in a few weeks. Don't believe me? Peep the scoop here.

Beerlao is giving props to the man above in that poster, Nary. He'll be at the movie screening doing a Q&A Friday and Saturday night. Check the listings at Clearview Cinemas (in Chelsea) for times and tickets.

There's an afterparty after the screening on Friday too at SNAP w/ a Beerlao open bar from 10pm-11pm.

Beerlao serves up Pencils of Promise on November 13

Hey New Yorkers and Beerlao fans nationwide, come help us help Pencils of Promise build some schools! They've built schools in Laos to help our kids get the fundamentals they need. And they're gearing up to build more.

On November 13th, Pencils of Promise will hold a multi-city event to fundraise for upcoming projects. New York, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego...if you're in one of these cities, mark your calendar and come out for some fun, fundraising, and of course...Beerlao!

the Sucklord celebrating the release of the Suckpax 2 trading card series. From
